Our Approach
We work collaboratively with fully-capable teams. In our typical engagements we do not seek to provide critical functional expertise that the team is otherwise missing. (If, for instance, the challenge requires the services of a marketing manager or electrical engineer, there should be a marketing manager or electrical engineer on the team.) Our role is to augment the capabilities of fully-competent teams by adding new insights from related fields and by stimulating team members to view the challenge from outside the boundaries of their own expertise and experience. We believe that the most important part of any effort to stimulate insights or innovations is to optimally define the challenge. Because expertise and experience constrain thinking (sometimes especially in the problem definition phase) our efforts always begin by helping teams identify and challenge basic assumptions. The result is often an insight or idea that significantly impacts the way the challenge is viewed, defined…and ultimately resolved.
